Fashion vs. Recession
By Mariana Davelaar

The recession is taking over the world, people are losing their jobs and having a hard time replacing them. Lots of families are getting into serious financial problems. Every profession in the business world has been affected, even the fashion world is having a very hard time enduring at the moment. One after another Big fashion house is closing their doors.

To find a proper job is very hard, because everybody is responding massively at available vacancies.  Employers have the advantage of a large pool of qualified candidates to choose from. And they will take their time to choose the candidate they feel is the best match for the job.

What can you do to get the job you want?

Nowadays a good CV is not enough. Because of the large amount of candidates that reply on one vacancy the employers will take their time to make the best choice based on the CV and especially your appearance.

You need to stand out (in a positive way) so the employer will be impressed and will remember you.

Basically you need to dress to impress regardless of the profession.

Fashion tips for the ladies.

  • Long trousers or a pencil skirt length upon the knee.
  • A blouse, don't be afraid of color but don't let the color over rule your outfit.
  • A vest for a more business look
  • On top  of the blouse a blazer with a nice cut or a cardigan with a nice waist belt

              for a more fashionable look.

  • With the trousers you can wear heels or flats, don't wear the pencil skirt with flats

(you will look shorter and it's not flattering).

  • Don't wear accessories that will distract you and the person you have your job

              interview with.

Fashion tips for the men.

  • Wear a nice striped suit. Be sure that the length of your sleeves and

the length of the trousers aren't too long or too short.

  • For a real business look wear a nice colored shirt and a nice matching

tie. Don't let the tie over rule your outfit, for a more informal job

interview  wear upon your trousers a shirt with a vest or a shirt

              underneath a v-neck pullover.

  • Be sure you ALWAYS wear dark colored socks. If you don't play tennis

you don't need white socks so throw them away.

  • A golden tip: If you wear a white shirt don't ever wear a white t-shirt

underneath it because you can see the white t-shirt through the shirt.

Wear a red t-shirt instead, you will not see the red of the t-shirt

through the shirt.  Just try it and you will see.
