The College World Reporter (CWR)

Announces

The CWR Student Empowerment Movement

Little Rock, AR - January 17, 2011 - The College World Reporter (CWR) today announced The CWR Student Empowerment Movement.  For the past two years The CWR has established itself as the premier student empowerment and career transitional magazine in America.  The magazine addresses one of the greatest problems in our society, and that is poor reading skills.

An article in The Boston Globe written by a writer from The Washington Post stated:

"WASHINGTON Literacy specialists and educators say they are stunned by the results of a recent adult literacy assessment, which shows that the reading proficiency of college graduates has declined in the past decade, with no obvious explanation."

"It's appalling it's really astounding," said Michael Gorman, president of the American Library Association and a librarian at California State University at Fresno. "Only 31 percent of college graduates can read a complex book and extrapolate from it. That's not saying much for the remainder."

The College World Reporter provides readers with meaningful articles with substantive information that helps develop reading and anylitical skills, while providing helpful advice which if used will help the reader grow in a number of ways.  It has even been recommended that The CWR would be a welcome addition to the college curriculum.

The magazine features experts on career planning, student loan debt management, building lasting relationships, preventing and overcoming domestic abuse, understanding how fashion affects success, creating a professional image, effectively managing personal finance and building wealth, and much more.

The magazine also features the work of students from the United States and many other countries from around the world, and provides readers with diverse views, opinions, news, and information.

From the beginning, the objective of The CWR has been to provide students with professional advice and valuable information beyond what they receive on their campuses, to help students prepare to make the transition from college into the business and professional world successfully.

There is no other magazine that provides students with the vast resources found in The CWR, or the host of professional writers with the knowledge and experience of the dynamic writers at The CWR.

To underscore the need for such a publication, a recent graduate of Duke University who is now working for a major marketing company confided to CWR publisher Donell Edwards that she was very surprised at how unprepared she was to make the transition from college to the business world.  Not from the standpoint of her education, but from the expectations of her employer and how to effectively apply what she had learned in college.

As The CWR has continued to ascertain the needs of students over the past two years, it has evolved into an empowerment movement in support of students on many fronts.  Today, we are proud to announce our CWR Student Success Program and Campus Tours as part of The CWR Student Empowerment Movement.  This is one of many initiatives to be announced in the future by The CWR in support of students.

According to CWR publisher Donell Edwards, "The CWR Student Success Program has been developed to help students stay in school and graduate.  The program works with students and their institutions for up to a year to enhance their opportunities for success in graduating.  We will introduce the program through a tour of selected college and university campuses throughout 2011 and beyond.  The program is available to any student who wants to succeed."

Edwards says there will be more details and a list of colleges for the tour at a later date.  For more information about The CWR or to get a FREE subscription visit www.CWRMagOnline.com.
