A small city big on culture, Little Rock, Arkansas is a city of diversity. On television, Arkansas is portrayed as nothing but farms, dirt roads, and toothless rednecks. While some of the stereotypes are present, Little Rock, Arkansas shows the world Arkansas has more to offer.

The Enclave at the Riverfront Apartments

Clinton Avenue downtown is the heart of the city. Here, one can see how people interact with one another in business and leisure. Little Rock is a big city where the run-down, dilapidated neighborhoods are only blocks away from the big houses. But they all meet downtown.

Old State House

Little Rock, Ark. is not perfect, but it has always gotten a bad reputation nationally and internationally. There is much to love about the city and it's people.  In the daytime, people young and old fill the busy streets, scurrying across crosswalks going to and from work with coffee in tow.

Others stroll along to the many local restaurants, each with their own unique style. Though there are many great places, the best afternoon eats are Flying Fish, which serves Cajun-style catfish and chicken, and Iriana's Pizza on Markham Street.

Statehouse Convention Center

By nightfall, the city comes alive with music and dancing. Jazz lovers can tap their toes to the music at The Afterthought on Kavanaugh Boulevard, rockers can enjoy the local bands at Vino's on 7th Street or The Rev Room. For people who like to dress comfortably, have a few drinks, and eat great food, this is the place to be!

For people who like to get dressed up in their best out-on-the-town attire, Little Rock has numerous choices in clubs including Underground Pub and Electric Cowboy.

The Peabody Hotel

Despite the misconception that Arkansas is anti-gay rights, downtown has a thriving gay scene. The top club is Back Street, which shares a space with one of Little Rock's most popular clubs (no matter one's sexual orientation), which features a high-energy DJ on Saturday nights and a schedule of drag shows that are sure to entertain.

Eating is not the only thing to do. Little Rock has museums and art galleries that showcase the city's rich culture.

Trolley In River Market District

Clinton Avenue is home to the Clinton Presidential Library, named for the 42nd President of the United Sates, Bill Clinton (1993-2000). Clinton was born in Hope, Arkansas and was governor of Arkansas from 1972 until he defeated George Bush for the presidency in 1992. The library contains documents from Clinton's political career, including tapes and personal letters. The library also has various exhibits throughout the year. Right now, one of the exhibits is Read My Pins:  The Madeleine Albright Collection. The exhibit features a collection from the first female U.S. Secretary of State, appointed by Clinton in 1996.

The Museum of Discovery is the perfect place for a family outing where adults and kids can learn about science and discover things about the world around them. Right now the people can see one of the largest Kewpie collections in the world, a collection of multicultural masks, and Friendship Dolls, gifts sent from Japanese children in 1926 to symbolize the friendship between Japan and the U.S.
