Student Agenda
Students today are confronted with more challenges than at any period previously in our history.  We are concerned and want to help.  We want to see students succeed, and that is the main objective of The College World Reporter.  Our mission is to provide students with advice and information to supplement what you are receiving at your college or university.  But beyond that, we want to be a resource where students have freedom of expression to discuss their concerns about education, the future, and the world we live in.  We also encourage you to share your thoughts about what you feel are solutions to obstacles students must overcome, and challenges students must confront.  What do students really need?  What assistance is lacking or could be improved?  What would make life simpler and more fun?  Do you feel that you are being well prepared for success in your future?  What concerns do you have about your future?  What advice or counsel do you need most?  Do you feel that there is a generational gap or a trust issue with older adults, parents, or instructors, and please elaborate?  If you had the power, and that is what we are giving you right here and now, if you had the power, what would be your student agenda of the major issues that need to be resolved, and what suggestions do you have to find solutions for those issues?

Public Option for Healthcare
There has been much discussion about national healthcare, and for some time that topic dominated the news.  One of the points of contention in the plan for many is a public option in the proposed national healthcare plan.  Do you know what the public option is and understand how it would supposedly work?  Are you concerned that future generations will benefit from a national healthcare plan, or if such a plan is implemented, do you fear that future generations will be saddled with the burden of paying the enormous costs for a plan that may not work, and in fact may do more harm than good.  This plan is so voluminous that even the most voracious reader would be overwhelmed, and it would take a team of legal experts to make sense of it.  So, most of us know only what we have been told by pundits or politicians, and have based our decisions on those whom we feel we can trust most.  Others have been motivated to make decisions based on emotion.  In attempting to objectively review national healthcare in other countries, particularly Canada and France, it would appear that national healthcare works.  But the question for Americans is how will such a plan be implemented in the United States, how will it be similar to those plans mentioned and how will it differ.  What assurances can Americans have that everyone will benefit from the plan, and that it will be administered fairly, and that the costs will not be beyond reason.  So, we ask the question:  Do you favor the public option for national healthcare, and why, or why not?

Should The Government Take Over All Student Loan Funding?
One of the major concerns for many high school students planning to enroll in college and for college students as well, is how do I pay for my education.  Congress is considering eliminating participation by privare banks in the current student loan program due to perceived abuse.  Although it is very necessary to monitor the way private banks fulfill their role in providing student funding, is it in the best of students to completely eliminate them from participation?  Would it be better to establish stricter guidelines and more effective means of monitoring their activities than to totally eliminate them from the process.  So, we ask the question:  Should the government take over all student loan funding, or should private banks still be allowed to make student loans?  What do you think?

Accountability: What Does It Mean To You?
Politicians, entertainers, business leaders, and others are constantly in the news because of some type of misconduct.  As a society, do we hold them as accountable as we should?  As a college student, what does accountability mean to you, and should we, or should we not, hold people accountable for their actions?
