Message From the Publisher

Welcome to The College World Reporter website. Our mission is to empower college and university students everywhere to make the transition from being students to becoming successful career professionals.

Our  website  includes the work of our outstanding volunteer advisors, who empower readers by sharing their advice and experience on a variety of subjects, including  career planning, building a professional image, effectively managing student loan debt, building wealth and making money work for you instead of working a lifetime with nothing to show for it, tips on health and fitness,  advice on personal safety and security, civil law, business and entrepreneurship, as well as news and information about student life from the student's perspective.

Because we believe very strongly in racial and gender diversity  we  established "Connecting Worlds,"  which  is a recurring feature in The College World Reporter that takes readers inside practically every major ethnic group in America, and helps readers to understand what it is like being an American from a different culture.

We also want to be a catalyst in  bringing  the  people  of  the  world closer together and we feel that process begins with educating our young people about the cultures of the world they live in, so we established The College World Reporter Virtual Cultural XChange. This program brings students from Brazil, China, Nigeria, Kazakjstan, and the United States together to exchange information about their cultures, and hopefully become ambassadors who will share what they are learning with others in their country so that they get to know each other better from the experience.

Our  website  is  also  the  home of our reading for success initiative, "It's A Reader's World," which is a work in progress that focuses not just on reading, but learning to master the specific reading comprehension and vocabulary skills that are required for success in today's global marketplace, and the world of the future.

The  programs  of  The College World Reporter  are  funded  by donations from concerned individuals and if you would like to be a Friend of The CWR get your FREE subscription today by clicking on the "Join The CWR Movement" button below, and completing the subscription form.

If you would like to further support our efforts to empower students send your donations to:

The CWR Student Empowerment Foundation
P. O. Box 55925
Little Rock, AR 72215

We hope that you enjoy your tour through the pages of our website, and we welcome your comments @  http://tinyurl.com/CWRComments

Sincerely,

Donell Edwards

Publishers  Note: We   are   at   the   forefront   of   a growing movement to empower students, and we recently announced a major initiative to help students who may be having problems staying in school to succeed and graduate. Student retention is a very serious issue, and we are doing something about it. For more information read our press release

Look Upon A Little Child

By Attorney Jermaine A. Wyrick, J.D.

The  crux  of  the  controversy  is  how to handle the interrogation of a child as compared to an adult. Specifically, whether the age of a child subjected to police questioning is relevant to the custody analysis of Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966) where the United States Supreme Court held police must inform individuals who are in custody of their right to an attorney before interrogation. 6 Superfoods To Keep You Healthy and Happy

By Dr. Janet Brill, Ph.D.

Nutritional shakes, energy bars and specially formulated dietary supplements all drain our pocketbooks, but do they really give us more energy, make us healthier and help us live longer? Unfortunately, most of the claims are grossly exaggerated or are just simply not true. A poor diet with supplements is still a poor diet! Learn more in the September CWR.

Why F Is the Scariest Letter of the Alphabet - Part 2

By Dr. Marcia Cantarella, Ph.D.

Studies show that money is a taboo topic. People are not comfortable talking about how much they have or do not have. It is one of the areas we do not ask for help about. Again that “F” word fear gets in the way of getting the advice and help we need....But not knowing how to manage finances are a huge reason so many students fail to complete college.  This is a must read for college students and parents.  Read the full article in the September CWR.

Legal Domestic Abuse - When the Length of Your Divorce Litigation Is Lethal

By Dr. Jeanne King, Ph.D.

One of the ploys commonly used in divorce proceedings is called “scorched-earth.” It’s intended to prolong the process and starve out the economically un-empowered litigant. It’s a very effective strategy. Here’s why and herein lies why it’s lethal.  Read all of Dr. King's article only in the September CWR.

It has become a tradition at The CWR to reprint John Enright's Personal Safety and Security Toolkit article each September for incoming freshmen and as a review for returning students.

CWR Security Focus

Back to College Safety & Security Tips

By John Enright - Retired United States Secret Service Agent

Since mid-August, college students have been returning to campus in droves across the country, eager to start classes and begin the new school year....it is very important that students, especially those new to campus, spend a small amount of time learning how to remain safe while at college and begin to develop some good habits to avoid the pitfalls students have fallen into in past years that have resulted in serious consequences.  Be prepared and safety ready, read John's entire article in the September CWR.
